Moms 2 Be—Flu Protection for Expecting Mothers
Little Silver Pediatric and Family Medicine offers preservative-free (“mercury-free”) flu vaccines to all of our expecting mothers and their family members. With just one shot, you can protect both you and your baby from the harmful effects of flu for a safer pregnancy.
To further protect moms-to-be, we recommend that all family members who are six months of age and older get a flu vaccine to provide complete protection. The March of Dimes advises, “Pregnant women should make sure they’re at the front of the line to get a flu shot”. And ideally, we encourage you to tell your friends, too. Anyone you come in contact with on a regular basis during your pregnancy is also coming into contact with your unborn child.
Fighting the flu—for two
Good health during your pregnant months is vital to your baby’s health. The influenza virus carries several threats, including risk of premature delivery. On the other hand, one shot protects you and your baby from H1N1 (swine flu) and seasonal flu.
Flu shots are safe to get anytime during your pregnancy. We gladly accommodate pregnant women and their families during the same visit. Vaccinations are by appointment only – or ask us about our annual drive-thru flu clinic.
